A new camera that uses artificial intelligence (AI) could help koalas cross roads safely.

Koalas are endangered in several Australian states. They face many threats, including habitat loss, disease, and bushfire. Sadly, many koalas are injured or killed by cars when crossing roads, especially at night.

Now, scientists in Australia have created an AI-powered camera system that can detect koalas, even in the dark. In the future, scientists hope to link this technology to road signs to warn passing drivers when koalas are crossing.
