What is the aigamo method?

A Japanese farmer called Takao Furuno developed the aigamo method of rice farming in the 1980s. The method is named for aigamo, a type of duck. In the aigamo method, ducks are introduced to rice paddies to eat pesky insects and weeds. Not only that, but the ducks poo in the paddies, spreading their natural fertilizer. Thanks to the ducks, the rice thrives without the addition of chemicals. Watch the video to see this cool farming method in action in Vermont.
