What is a migratory bird?
A migratory bird is any bird that travels long distances (migrates) in search of food, breeding grounds, or or to avoid wintry weather. Migratory birds move from place to place to meet their needs. Some birds travel for hundreds of kilometers (or miles) and others for thousands, over mountains and across the ocean!
