One of the world’s most endangered crocodiles is getting a helping hand from local communities in Laos.
Siamese crocodiles are a medium-sized type of freshwater crocodile native to parts of Southeast Asia. They are considered guardians of the wetlands by many communities.
Hunting and habitat loss drove them close to extinction. But, in Laos, a conservation program led by local groups is helping bring crocs back. Helpers collect crocodile eggs from wild nests and raise the babies until they are ready to go back into the wild.
