This video shows a female chimpanzee in Gabon using a stick to investigate a camera trap. Chimpanzees are well-known for their intelligence and tool use. However, this is the first time chimp tool use has been recorded in Batéké Plateau National Park.

Conservation group Panthera and Gabon’s National Parks Agency have set up camera traps to monitor wildlife in the remote park. So far, they’ve spotted chimpanzees, a lion, and a hyena. This is good news for an area once devastated by poaching.
