Polar bears are difficult to track! These important predators live in remote habitats in the Arctic. For polar bears, the rugged terrain, ice, and snow are just part of life. However, these conditions are a challenge to the scientists who study them.

Fur tags are a new non-invasive tool that attaches to the bears’ coats. These satellite tags allow scientists to track both male and female polar bears without harming them.
