Earth is our home. What will our home look like 5, 10, and 50 years from now? Each of us has a hope for the future. Each of us has a voice to share.

What is your hope for the future?

Alfie and Mae hope for the future

Imagine a healthy and sustainable future…

Here are some questions to inspire you:

  • What will your house look like 5, 10, or 50 years from now?
  • What will your city or community look like 5, 10, or 50 years from now?
  • How will we live?
  • Will we still have pets?
  • What will we eat?
  • Will we grow our food at home?
  • Will there be more forests and natural spaces?
  • What will the ocean look like?
  • How will we dispose of waste and clean up pollution?

Draw your hopes

What are your hopes for the future? What do you hope for your home, your community, and your city? What do you hope for our shared planet?

Create a drawing, painting, sculpture, or other artwork showing what you hope the world looks like 10 or 50 years from now. Are the buildings in our cities covered in plants? Do some of us live on floating villages in the ocean? Do we still drive cars?

Share your voice with us: We love art! If you’d like to share your drawings with us, parents or guardians can contact the editors of Mongabay Kids at kids [at] mongabay.com.

What do other kids want for tomorrow?

In celebration of a recent global meeting on biodiversity conservation, children from schools in Montreal in Canada and Kunming and Yunnan in China shared their voices about what they hope for in the future.

Maybe they have the same hopes as you! Watch to find out:
