To humans, giraffes seem like peaceful animals. It is funny to think of a giraffe as the monster in a scary movie. But what if it were a leaf making the movie? Would there be anything scarier to a leaf than a hungry giraffe?

Activity: create a monster movie poster!

Have you ever seen a poster for a movie that you liked? Maybe you’ve seen one on the side of a bus, or outside a movie theater, or online.

Have you ever seen a poster for a monster movie? What did it look like? What kind of imagery was on the poster? Did it frighten you or make you excited to see the movie?

Now, imagine if your favorite animal or plant made a movie about what it is afraid of in the world. What would the poster for that movie look like? Your challenge is to create a monster movie poster featuring your favorite animal or plant and the monster of their nightmares!

What to do

Step 1:

Pick an animal or a plant to be the main character (or characters) in your movie (the leaves in our example poster)

Step 2:

Pick a monster for your movie (the giraffe in our example poster)

Step 3:

Choose a scary or spooky title for your movie (“Tongue of Terror” in our example poster). You can also choose a tagline, which is a slogan that hints at what the movie is about.

Step 4:

Create a poster featuring your main character(s) and the monster of their nightmares. Along with the title and tagline, include the names of the actors and the movie director and producers.

Step 5:

Share your monster movie poster with friends and family
