Indris (scientific name: Indri indri) are residents of Madagascar and the largest living lemurs. They are our primate cousins. Indri conservation status

Fewer than 10,000 indris are left in the wild and they are classified as critically endangered on the IUCN Red List. Indris live in forests. When these forests are cut down or fragmented into patches, it makes it hard for indris to grow and maintain their numbers, according to the Lemur Conservation Network. Hunting is also a threat to indris.
