The Smallest Monkey: Pygmy Marmoset (Cebuella pygmaea)

Pygmy marmosets are the smallest true species of monkey, weighing in at a diminutive 4 ounces. Like most other species of marmosets, these guys are gummivores. This means that they gnaw into trees to eat the sweet, sticky substance they contain. Not unlike other species of small primates, the pygmy marmosets' main threat is the pet trade. Another danger to this species in particular is fragmentation of their habitat, resulting in inbreeding within the population. Under the IUCN Red List, they are listed under Least Concern.
