The Smallest Whale: Dwarf Sperm Whale (Kogia sima)

This species of whale is so small that even some species of dolphin surpass it in size. These whales grow to about 9 feet and weight up to 550 pounds. They are a slow moving species who prefers deep water and has been seen in most waters of tolerable temperature around the planet. Little else is known about this species, accounting for its status as Data Deficient on the IUCN Red List.
