The Biggest Crocodile: Saltwater Crocdile (Crocodylus porosus)

Marked as under Least Concern by the IUCN, the saltwater crocodile can be found from Japan to Northern Australia, and throughout the coast of Southeast Asia. They are the biggest of all the living reptiles. Saltwater crocodiles are not picky eaters, but are not mindless killers, as they can live off a small amount of food for a very long time. These intelligent hunters typically just lay on a bank or in a lake at night, appearing to be asleep. But when food comes by, saltwater crocodiles can swim at 15 to 18 miles per hour (but only in short bursts). Some scientists even support theories that saltwater crocodiles speak to one another using a primitive reptilian language.
