Mongabay.com is the effort of Rhett A. Butler, a resident of California.
Mongabay.com aims to raise interest in wildlife and wildlands while promoting awareness of environmental issues. Originally the site was based around a text on tropical rainforests that I developed four year period (1996-2000), but today the site has expanded in a number of different directions.

The Mongabay Kids site (kids.mongabay.com) aims to help children learn about rainforests and the environment. This site is still under development and I am working to add additional content as time permits.
